Rob Lederer
Chief Executive Officer
Rob Lederer is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), a nonprofit coalition of leading companies dedicated to improving social, environmental and ethical conditions in their global supply chains.
He has guided the RBA since 2013, driving industry action in the areas of forced labor, conflict minerals, human rights and sustainability, and expanding partnerships with governments and civil society worldwide. During that time the RBA has grown tremendously in size and reach, more than doubling its membership.
Rob has more than three decades of experience managing industry associations, helping them to achieve strategic objectives. Additionally, he was the mayor of Fairfax, Virginia, USA, for 10 years, providing leadership and vision to the city.
Deborah Albers
Chief Operations Officer
Before joining the RBA, Deborah Albers was the principal social strategist in corporate responsibility at Dell Inc., leading the work on social responsibility and stakeholder engagement. She was responsible for the long-term strategy and risk associated with responsible sourcing, global regulation and industry engagement on social issues. Deborah previously led the Dell On-Call organization globally, helping customers solve complex software issues. She was with Dell for 16 years. Prior to joining Dell, Deborah helped launch a technology startup in Silicon Valley, California.
Tyler Gillard
Chief Strategy Officer
Tyler joins the RBA as an independent special adviser to the board of directors and senior management with over with 20 years of senior-level experience in sustainability, supply chains, human rights, stakeholder engagement and public policy. He was the Head of Due Diligence in the OECD’s Centre for Responsible Business Conduct, where he built and led the team that worked with governments and stakeholders to negotiate the OECD’s international standards for responsible business conduct. Tyler has worked with policymakers to design regulation on conflict minerals, modern slavery, deforestation, sustainability reporting and responsible supply chains. He and his team at the OECD also worked closely with business, trade unions and civil society to strengthen the alignment of industry and multi-stakeholder initiatives and the overall effectiveness of market-based mechanisms on sustainability in global supply chains.
Hamlin Metzger
Senior Vice President, Impact
Prior to joining the RBA, Hamlin Metzger was the Senior Director of Human Rights for Best Buy, a multinational retailer of technology and entertainment products and services. He was responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s Human Rights strategy, programs and governance. In addition, he led Best Buy’s Responsible Sourcing and Conflict Minerals programs.
From 2012-2018, Hamlin served on the Board of Directors at the RBA, and in 2018 he served as the Chair of the Responsible Minerals Initiative’s steering committee. In 2010, Hamlin was named a First Mover Fellow by the Aspen Institute and, in 2018, he was selected as a Policy Fellow by the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
Jennifer Peyser
Senior Vice President, Responsible Sourcing
Jen has 20 years of experience designing and leading proactive, global, multi-stakeholder partnerships and strategies at the intersection of human rights, sustainability, and natural resources. Her work has particularly focused on the mining and minerals sector. She has worked on a range of projects to improve environmental and human rights performance and impacts across supply chains from source to product, including benefits to local communities where development and production of natural resources occur. Jen worked with tripartite partners to design, launch and facilitate the first decade of the Public-Private Alliance for Responsible Minerals Trade. She also has expertise in supply chain mapping, research and joint fact finding; multi-stakeholder standards and standards-setting processes; and, creation of other due diligence and responsible sourcing tools and guidance.
Anna Pienaar
Executive Director of the Responsible Labor Initiative
Anna brings a wealth of leadership experience in human rights and international development, having spent 15 years in the nonprofit sector building partnerships to prevent modern slavery, support education and promote women’s economic empowerment. She most recently served as Executive Director of the Global Battery Alliance in 2021, supporting its transition from an initiative of the World Economic Forum to an independently run organization. Prior to that, she served as Global Vice President, Corporate and Government Affairs at the human rights NGO International Justice Mission (IJM) where she led the global strategy for engaging public and private sector actors to address human trafficking in global supply chains. In this role she facilitated the formation and launch of the Global Survivor Network, an international group of survivors of slavery and violence now leading advocacy movements across three continents.
Anna served on the Advisory Board for the RBA's Responsible Labor Initiative (RLI) during its launch in 2017-2018; and the multi-stakeholder RLI Steering Committee from 2019-2021. She was a founding member of the Global Battery Alliance in 2017, serving on the Executive Board (2017-2019); and was Chair of the Markets Policy Working Group for Delta 8.7 (2020-2021).
Ken Anderson
Vice President, Member Experience
Ken brings 16 years of wide-ranging IT experience covering software engineering, database administration, network/telecom deployments, and enterprise systems management. He has worked in the Department of Defense, K-12 education software, and industrial controls engineering fields, providing a breadth of experience across many trades. As a PMI-certified project manager, his experience initiating, planning and supervising large projects assists the RBA in integrating the various tools and data needs required by our members and their suppliers. Ken has a master’s degree in information systems from the University of South Alabama.
Bart Devos
Vice President of Public Policy
Before joining the Responsible Business Alliance, Bart worked for Samsung Electronics as European Manager for Sustainability. Earlier, Bart held roles in public and nonprofit sectors, including as an advisor at the French National Assembly, UN Youth Representative for Sustainable Development, and advisor on strategy development and stakeholder engagement to several international organizations. He holds bachelor and master degrees in Law from Brussels Free University as well as a masters degree in Conflict and Development from Ghent University. Bart speaks English, French, Dutch, Italian and Spanish.
Jarrett Bens
Senior Director of Communications
Jarrett has more than 15 years of experience directing strategic communications initiatives for technology companies, trade associations and nonprofits. Prior to joining the RBA, he held communications positions in agencies and corporations. His areas of expertise include public and media relations, public affairs, message development, digital communications, and research. Jarrett has an MA in Political Science (International Relations) from Villanova University and a BA in Communications (Journalism) from Temple University.
Jack Cutts
Senior Director of Data Analytics
Jack is a seasoned data scientist with a broad range of experience in data analytics, machine learning and database administration. A 16-year veteran of the electronics and telecommunications industries, he worked in business intelligence, research and membership for the Consumer Technology Association. Earlier, Jack served in government affairs for Alcatel-Lucent. He earned his Bachelor of Science in International Affairs from Georgia Tech and his MBA from George Mason University.
Marianna Smirnova
RMI Senior Director of Standards and Responsible Sourcing
Marianna has more than 12 years of experience in human rights and compliance issues in supply chains, including human trafficking, conflict minerals, and raw materials traceability. Her expertise includes leading global collaborative projects, program management, policy analysis, standards and audit tool development, training, capacity-building, and research. Previously Marianna managed the raw materials and extractives auditing and advisory services program at UL's Responsible Sourcing group, including assessments using Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), and Conflict-Free Smelter Program (CFSP) standards. Marianna has a Master’s in International Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin. She speaks English, Russian, and Mandarin Chinese.
Fabiana Di Lorenzo, Ph.D.
Senior Director, RMI Impact and Innovation
Fabiana is a responsible sourcing and human rights expert with extensive background in business, minerals and metals. Prior to joining the Responsible Business Alliance, she worked for the International Labour Organisation, the UK government and Levin Sources consultancy where she advised blue-chip companies and SMEs, OEMs, investment firms, governments, international organisations and standard setters. Fabiana holds a PhD in Law from King’s College London in the UK, an MA in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the same institution, an MA in International and Human Rights and a BA in International Development and Economy from the University of Turin in Italy. She is also a member of the DIIR (German Institute for Internal Audits).
Daniel Reid
Senior Director, Environment & Circularity
Dan has four years of regulatory experience with the EPA in the Dallas regional office, where he oversaw state level monitoring and registration programs for overly polluted waterbodies under the Clean Water Act. Additionally, he coordinated state run programs for monitoring health risks at public beaches. He joined RBA in 2016 after completing a Masters of Environmental Management at Yale, where he concentrated in corporate resource management and risk. At Yale, Dan worked and interned for several multinational corporations to evaluate the performance and environmental impact of their operations. Dan also has a Bachelors in environmental science from the University of Notre Dame.
Juan Carlos Martinez
Senior Director of Operations
Juan Carlos has more than 29 years of experience in the electronics industry, with 10 of those years in sustainability. Prior to joining the RBA, he was the supply chain social responsibility project executive at IBM Corp., where he led a series of process improvements, data analytics and capability-building programs in IBM’s supply chain. Juan Carlos holds a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering and a master’s degree in social development from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico.
Bobby Terrell
Senior Director of IT Operations
Bobby has more than 20 years of IT experience in leadership and problem solving for systems development, information assurance and business process improvement. Prior to joining the RBA, he supported the U.S. Department of the Navy providing leadership in planning, managing and/or supporting a wide range of IT systems from small to enterprise level. Bobby is a PMP-certified professional who holds a bachelor’s degree in information systems and a master's degree in business administration from the University of South Alabama.
Chee Keong Lai
Senior Director, Advisory Services
Chee Keong has more than 20 years of experience in sustainability programs including supplier assessment, corporate social responsibility and green supply chains. His experience also includes validation and verification of carbon emission reduction projects on behalf of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UFCCC), and environmental, occupational safety & health and quality management systems audits, training and consultancy. Chee Keong has extensive international experience and exposure in countries in Asia Pacific and Europe. He was based in Beijing for 6+ years from 2008 to 2014.
Laura Landrau
Director of Events and Internal Operations
Laura came to the RBA with a background in both corporate and social event planning. She has been responsible for a wide variety of events, including conferences, launch events, weddings and galas. Laura has a bachelor's degree in communications and marketing from American University and speaks Spanish and Portuguese, as well as English. Laura also holds a certification in government meeting planning.
Andy Chiu
Director of Operations - Assurance
Andy has been working in the corporate social responsibility field for more than 15 years. He has led sustainability programs for various MNCs in a broad spectrum of industries, including retailers and vendors in the electronics, toys, apparel and footwear sectors, as well as for an auditing firm. Before joining the RBA Andy was the supply chain responsibility program manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where he led a series of supply chain capability-building programs. Andy has a Master of Social Science (Corporate Environmental Governance) from The University of Hong Kong.
Alexandra Cech
Director of Responsible Sourcing
Alex has more than 10 years of experience in responsible sourcing, human rights issues in supply chains, and economic development. Her experience includes strategy development, group facilitation, project management, analyzing value chains and conducting risk assessments. She previously worked as the Human Rights and Supply Chain Responsibility Program Manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. She has also held positions with UL’s Responsible Sourcing group, the World Bank, and ACDI/VOCA. She holds an MS from Georgetown University and a BA from the College of William and Mary.
Yakut Oktay
Director of Operations - Automotive
Yakut has 10 years of experience supporting membership organizations. Before joining RBA, she worked at amfori and Fair Labor Assocation in diverse roles, including on-site assessments in the EMEA region, audit quality management, due diligence program management, and IT product ownership.
Benjamyn Marks
Director, Environment, Health & Safety
Ben has more than 10 years of experience as an occupational safety, environmental health, and industrial hygiene professional. As a seasoned environmental, health, and safety (EHS) consultant, he has provided professional services to numerous multinational corporations. Prior to joining the RBA, Ben was an executive leader at a nationwide consulting firm where he served as the head of operations. His expertise includes workplace safety, hazardous materials, occupational exposures, environmental impact, and public health. Ben maintains the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation from the Board for Global EHS Credentialing and the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Technology and a master’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety Management from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Chi Q. Do, Ph.D.
Director of Asia Public Policy
Chi has more than 20 years of experience in research, training and consultancy in the field of industrial relations and labor rights at regional and international levels. Before joining the RBA, Chi worked for the Vietnam Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the International Labour Organisation, and co-founded the Research Center for Employment Relations - the first independent labor research institute in Vietnam. She received her Ph.D. in Work and Organisational Study from the University of Sydney and her M.Phil. in International Relations from the University of Cambridge. Chi has multiple publications in international journals. She speaks English, Vietnamese and Mandarin.
Ka Ea Lim
Director, Compliance
Ka Ea is trained in law and has more than 13 years of work experience in the field of civic education and human rights with non-governmental organisations in Malaysia and the United Nations in Timor-Leste and Afghanistan. She has also volunteered for the Ethiopian Red Cross Society and Foundation for International Development/Relief in Cambodia. Prior to joining the RBA, she worked as a Project Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights. She is an alumna of the American Council for Young Political Leaders (ACYPL).
Sandra Carvalho
Director of Operations - Minerals
Sandra has more than 10 years of experience in client relations and supporting vendors and brands on ESG performance improvement. She has experience in the minerals and CSR space, driving supplier management and audit program management at audit service providers (UL and Intertek), including managing RMI and VAP audit program delivery for well over a decade. The development and support of clients’ supply chain compliance programs were her key focus areas. Sandra engaged supply chain partners across a variety of industries, such as electronics, minerals and retailers. She was also responsible, together with key leaders, for expanding resources and capacities in new markets and countries. Sandra resides in England, is a native Portuguese speaker, fluently speaks English and Italian, and has working proficiency in Spanish.
Khai Yau Chua
Senior Program Manager
Khai started his career at HP in 2000 before moving on to work in public and international organizations. In the nine years prior to joining the RBA, he has been working on areas related to human, labor, migrant and refugee rights in IOM and UNHCR. Khai is an alumnus of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on Trafficking in Persons and has an MA in International Relations from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia and a BSc in Computer and Information Sciences from the National University of Singapore.
Charmaine Nuguid
Senior Program Manager
Charmaine has nearly 20 years of experience in corporate responsibility, with specific foci on labor and human rights, stakeholder engagement and research. In her own consultancy, she supported clients in Europe and Asia on a variety of labor compliance and sustainability issues; particularly industrial relations compliance and sustainable materials/circularity research. Earlier, Charmaine headed UL’s Global Regulatory Research Center in the Philippines; the team that supported consumer goods regulatory and standards research. She was Team Head for Puma, responsible for the global social compliance program and spearheaded multi-stakeholder innovation projects on HR management systems and fair wages as well as Puma's reaccreditation with the Fair Labor Association. Charmaine also led the Li & Fung vendor compliance and sustainability team in Vietnam and supported multi-stakeholder initiatives and labor and sustainability innovation pilots by the Li & Fung group in Vietnam. She was also part of a United Nations Volunteer (UNV) team that created the first business cases on corporate community relations used by the UN Global Compact in 2003. Charmaine has a degree in Economics from the University of the Philippines Diliman.
Mann Chyun Sim
Senior Account Manager
Mann Chyun comes to RBA with over seven years of experience in supply chain environmental compliance, providing environmental reporting and consultation services in the electronics, automotive and medical sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science from the National University of Malaysia.
Anna Stancher
Senior Program Manager, RMI
Anna joined the RBA's Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) in 2021. Previously she worked for a business association specialized in sustainability for business, where she assisted retailers and vendors across multi-industries to implement and innovate their due diligence systems. Earlier she worked as a technical advisor and consultant for the UN and GIZ on private-sector driven economic development projects. Anna holds an MSc in Industrial Strategies and Trade Policies from the University of Manchester, UK.
Neil Humphrey
Marketing Manager
Neil’s background is in marketing and communications, previously promoting the transportation and logistics industry for a nonprofit association. He specialized in multimedia production, marketing campaign development, and content strategy. Neil has a bachelor’s degree in public administration and policy from George Mason University.
Ross Landis
Database Project Manager
Ross' background includes 20 years of experience in IT support and publishing. Prior to joining the RBA, he was with The Gannett Company, where he honed his skills in software scripting, data management, and process automation. Earlier, he served on the Planning Commission for the City of Fairfax, Virginia.
Surya Herny Mahdzir
VAP Program Manager
Herny has more than 8 years administrating quality and operational audits in the IT sector prior to joining the RBA. She is ITIL v3 Foundation certified and holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Technology from the University of Surrey, UK.
Mariana Osuna
VAP Program Manager
Prior to joining the RBA, Mariana was a Sustainability Engineer for Philip Morris International where she was responsible for different systems and certifications including ISO14001 and Alliance for Water Stewardship; EHS performance, projects and campaigns; and legal requirements compliance, among others. She is also a consultant in hydrology for the Secretary of Environment and Territorial Development of the state Jalisco in Mexico. Mariana holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO).
Gavin Wu
Manager of RMI Member Services
Gavin has experience in database management, vendor auditing, and Internet-based research. He previously interned at Washington, D.C. nonprofits focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Gavin has a bachelor's degree from the University of Miami in Biology and Ecosystem Science/Policy.
Diana Trigo
Manager, RMI Training
Diana joined the RBA's Responsible Minerals Initiative as a Program Specialist with more than 10 years of experience conducting supply chain assessments, quality assurance, and capacity-building experience in over 15 countries. She was previously the Verification Manager for the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, where she was instrumental in creating an industry standard for social and environmental programs in apparel and footwear supply chains. Her previous work experience includes Patagonia's Social and Environmental Responsibility Program, where she worked closely with their supply chain to implement Patagonia's social and environmental responsibility initiatives and programs. Diana holds an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
Dana Battistello
Manager, IT Projects
Dana has a background in business systems analysis and administration. Her experience includes project coordination, requirements gathering, testing and end-user training. Prior to joining the RBA, Dana supported the U.S. Department of the Navy, providing support for a wide range of mission-critical IT systems. She holds a bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management from University of Maryland Global Campus.
Kyle Rand
Systems Administration Manager
Kyle has a diverse background in customer relations, project management and information technology. Prior to joining the RBA, he was a program manager with the American Gastroenterological Association. Kyle has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and is a CompTIA-certified IT Technician.
Ronnie Tan
Asia Compliance Manager
Ronnie has been working in the corporate social responsibility field for more than 20 years. He was the former northern region branch manager, APAC regional security program manager and national social compliance manager for an auditing firm based in Malaysia in the past 10 years and has led the social compliance team in the past 15 years. Prior joining the RBA, Ronnie was an APSCA-registered auditor for an auditing firm and actively conducted social compliance audits for various retailers and industries.
Maggie Gabos
RMI Technical Manager
Maggie joined the RBA's Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) as Technical Manager in 2022 with more than six years of experience in responsible sourcing and sustainability for mineral supply chains in the jewelry and battery sectors. Previously, she worked to advance multi-stakeholder collaboration on key sustainability and mineral sourcing issues in the battery value chain as Program Manager for the Global Battery Alliance (GBA). Maggie also has experience in developing responsible sourcing management systems, bridging responsible artisanal and small-scale mining efforts to downstream markets, consulting, strategy development, and multi-stakeholder engagement for responsible sourcing initiatives. She holds an MA in International Development and Environmental Sustainability from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School for Public and International Affairs and a BA in Political Science from Duquesne University.
Whitney Chan
Quality Assurance Manager
Whitney has more than 15 years of experience in the corporate social responsibility field. She has been overseeing the social compliance and sustainability program for various industries (apparel, fabric, printing), including retailers and vendors, as well as an auditing firm. Whitney’s roles covered the development of corporate audit policies, management of internal and external audits in social compliance, environment, quality, and security fields, involvement of business performance and evaluation. She has a Bachelor of Social Science from Hong Kong Baptist University.
Olena Wiaderna
Quality Assurance Manager
Olena is experienced in leading international projects and complex change initiatives across multiple sites and countries, including corporate governance and developments related to responsible business conduct in the extractives sector and mineral supply chains. She also has on-the-ground experience working in CAHRA regions. Before joining the RBA, Olena was the part of management team of LuNa Smelter Ltd. She holds a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Economics in Katowice and an MBA from the Cracow School of Business.
Tauqueer Alam
Quality Assurance Manager
Tauqueer is a Social Compliance & EHS professional with more than 15 years of experience. He worked at different levels handling social compliance audits in brands such as PVH and KIABI and for third parties including Intertek, SGS, Bureau Veritas, Arche Advisors, and Eurofins-CPA. Tauqueer also worked with several NGOs in different fields. He is a certified QMS, EMS, and OH&S lead auditor and has performed social audits, environmental audits, C-TPAT audits, and shadow assessments. Before joining the RBA, Tauqueer was a freelance lead auditor with Arche Advisors and Eurofins CPA. He has a master’s degree from the Delhi School of Social Work, Delhi University.
Zoul Pio
IT Service Manager
Zoul has a strong background in ITSM Centric Managed Services and administration, with expertise in service delivery, project coordination, research, and assessment. Before joining the RBA, he supported a diverse portfolio of enterprise clients. His primary focus was on delivering Microsoft-centric support services, including O365 migration and administration, Azure administration, and endpoint management. Zoul helped bridge the gap between client teams and service desk operations to ensure smooth communications and efficient problem resolutions.
Adriana Escobar
Events and Membership Coordinator
Prior to joining the RBA, Adriana was an early childhood educator. She freelanced as an events assistant, which led to her career change. Adriana holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and is fluent in English and Spanish.
Charles Teh
VAP Project Coordinator
Charles spent most of his early career days in data science and working in different industries. He has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics with Computing from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Malaysia) and speaks mostly English, Chinese, Malay and basic-level Japanese.
Jordan Davis
Environmental Specialist
Jordan joined the RBA in 2022 after completing a Masters in Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at UC Santa Barabra, where she concentrated in corporate environmental management and energy and climate science. During her graduate studies she worked on carbon accounting projects for Jacuzzi Group, NBCUniversal, and the Tampa Bay Rays, and successfully leveraged emissions data to create informed sustainability strategy decisions. Jordan also holds a B.S. in Geology from the College of Charleston and has experience in geochemical research with specializations in air and water pollution.
Jim Cardillo
Chief Financial Officer
With more than 25 years of experience serving in financial management and analytical roles, Jim Cardillo is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial management of all RBA organizations and divisions. Jim provides timely and accurate financial information to internal and external clients, as well as applying best practices in all aspects of financial management, including financial analyses supporting strategic decision-making, business process improvement initiatives, short-term and long-term cash forecasting, and the establishment and use of reserves.
Jim joined the RBA in 2022. Earlier, he spent nine years in outsourced CFO roles throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, providing financial leadership to nonprofits and associations ranging in size from $3 million to $50 million.
Jim began his career with an international accounting firm and developed his skills through assignments in auditing, taxation, and transaction support activities. With this broad-based foundation, he moved into senior financial roles for a global hospitality service provider and a national healthcare services provider. For the past 16 years, he refined his focus to serving associations and other nonprofit entities.
Jim holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The George Washington University in D.C.
Anastasiia Olvera
Controller
Anastasiia came to RBA with a background in forensic accounting, audits, financial data analysis, and financial research. She was previously an accountant for The QED Group and holds a master's degree in finance from Taras Shevshenko University of Kyiv, Ukraine. Anastasiia speaks English, Ukrainian, Russian, and entry-level Spanish.
Malcolm Boardley
Senior Accountant
Malcolm has more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit accounting, seven of which were as an accounting manager. He holds a bachelor's degree from Hampton University.
Mohsen Mousavi
Senior Accountant
Mohsen has more than 20 years of experience in corporate accounting, mostly with auto manufacturing companies, auto suppliers, and construction companies. His experience includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial statements, and general ledger review and reconciliation, as well as cost analysis. Mohsen speaks Persian and English.
Alexis Holmes
Accounting Clerk
Prior to joining the RBA, Alexis was an accounting clerk at a law firm in Washington, D.C. She also has experience as a bookkeeper. Alexis holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from University of the District of Columbia.
